Could it finally be that the Glazers reign is at an end?
The takeover has been dragging on for a considerable period since the first announcement that the club was up for sale, but it’s now claimed that an end date is in sight, with the Qatari having held off British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Elsewhere, the fallout from Mason Greenwood’s exit continues, with the club facing heavy criticism for their handling of the affair.
And manager Erik ten Hag continues to pursue transfer targets. But time is running out if the club are to move for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, with the Serie A side now setting a Friday deadline to receive a bid. Links to Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch have also continued.
Stay tuned for the latest updates from Old Trafford throughout Wednesday..

ICYMI — Bayindir medical
Altay Bayindir had a medical with Manchester United on Tuesday — but the Red Devils haven’t decided on signing him yet.
The Turkish goalkeeper, who plays for Istanbul giants Fenerbahce, has emerged as the subject of interest from Old Trafford due to Dean Henderson potentially leaving before deadline day. Henderson, 26, is wanted by both Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace, hoping to finally leave United on a permanent basis and play regularly in the lead-up to next summer’s European Championships.
But his departure would leave Erik ten Hag without an available understudy to new first-choice shot-stopper Andre Onana, as veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton is currently out injured and earlier this month, the Red Devils sold Czech starlet Matej Kovar to Bayer Leverkusen for just under £8million. So, as Forest and Palace battle for Henderson’s signature, United have turned to Bayindir.

Ten Hag urged to sign new midfielder
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been told he must sign a new midfielder this summer, despite already spending £60m on Mason Mount.
United have played a slightly different midfield set-up this season, with Mount lining up alongside Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro. However, former Red Devils star Dimitar Berbatov believes they need another defensive midfielder to support Casemiro as the current setup allowed both Wolves and Tottenham to create «good chances in the middle» in United’s first two Premier League games of the season.
Berbatov told Betfair: «Casemiro’s support in midfield is a good question for the manager, does he think that Casemiro is getting enough support? If not, how can he fix it?
«If he’s getting enough support then they continue the same way, another defensive midfield player, McTominay hasn’t played yet, he’s someone that is of a good quality and is young and hungry to improve and show his talent. If you’re not going to count on him, then maybe you go and look for someone to bring into the team, buy someone.»

Greenwood ‘offered international lifeline’
Mason Greenwood could still play at international level for Jamaica — if the forward can get his career back on track.
Jamaica are reportedly still interested in capping Greenwood. The FA worked hard to persuade the player to remain part of the England set up when Jamaica’s interest first appeared in 2021, but he has only been capped once..
According to FIFA’s rules, players are allowed to switch their international allegiance if they have played no more than three competitive games before the age of 21.

Ten Hag urged to have showdown talks with Rashford
Ex-Manchester United star Dimitar Berbatov believes Erik ten Hag and Marcus Rashford «need to talk» about the forward’s position after struggling during the first two matches of the season.
«United need to fill the position of a striker, Rashford probably doesn’t like playing as a nine,» he said. «Him and Ten Hag need to talk about it. The manager might explain to him that he needs to fill the boots of striker at the moment. As much as you may not like it, you need to try your best to do it. It’s probably not working out so far.»

Man Utd ready to battle for Gravenberch
Manchester United are ready to battle Liverpool for the signature of Ryan Gravenberch.
The two north-west giants have tabled contract offers to the 21-year-old former Ajax star after being told that Gravenberch is planning to hold showdown talks with Bayern about his future under Thomas Tuchel. The German champions value him at around £22million.
But a more likely compromise would be for Gravenberch to be sent out on loan for the season. Bayern told the Dutchman they did not want to lose him when United and Liverpool made enquiries earlier this summer — and the player opted to stay.

Gerrard blasts Greenwood claims
Steven Gerrard has blasted claims his club Al-Ettifaq are ready to make a move for Mason Greenwood as «fake news».
Manchester United confirmed on Monday that Greenwood would be leaving the club following an internal investigation. Focus has now turned to how the one-time capped former England international would continue his career, with a move abroad likely.
In February this year, the CPS dropped all criminal charges against the footballer, which included attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
A report on Monday claimed that one side interested in his signature was Al-Ettifaq, who were even prepared to offer the forward a £10million-per-year deal. It was also suggested that other Saudi Arabian clubs were weighing up a move for the forward.
Gerrard – who was appointed at the Dammam-based club this summer following his exit from the Aston Villa dugout last season – has moved to categorically rule out a move. He shared a screenshot of the report with the simple message «fake news» on his Instagram account.

Man Utd’s Greenwood struggle
Manchester United are struggling to find clubs willing to sign Mason Greenwood.
Even clubs in the Saudi Pro League have got major reservations about signing Greenwood because of the public backlash surrounding any potential deal.
Saudi Arabia has been under the spotlight over human rights and the treatment of women and clubs are wary about how a move for Greenwood would be perceived as football tries to gain credibility and respect in the country.
The Saudi Pro League looked an obvious option and their window remains open until September 20 so the mood could change but it currently looks highly unlikely.

Onana admission
Inter Milan chief executive Giuseppe Marotta said it was impossible to keep hold of Andre Onana after United registered their interest in the goalkeeper.
Marotta told Radio Serie A: «When a player is requested by a richer club, it’s difficult to keep him. It’s not possible for Italian clubs to turn down certain sums.
«Onana had arrived on a free transfer from a great club and left for more than €50million while doubling his wages. We couldn’t compete and, at the same time, we found alternatives.»

Bayindir medical
Man Utd are staging a pre-medical on Altay Bayindir in Greece ahead of possible move for the Fenerbahce goalkeeper, according to David Ornstein.
It’s reported that they want to assess back issue before opting to sign Bayindir, 25, or turn attentions elsewhere.
And a move may also depend on whether Dean Henderson, who is desperate to play regularly, moves on. Crystal Palace are among those to have shown an interest in Henderson, who spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Amrabat deadline
Fiorentina have said they will not consider any offers for star midfield player Sofyan Amrabat beyond the next 72 hours, according to Corriere dello Sport.
United have been heavily linked with a move for the Morocco international with manager Erik ten Hag keen to strengthen in midfield despite the arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea.
The Serie A side were under the impression that Amrabat would be sold this summer but with the deadline nearing and their league campaign beginning last weekend, they have imposed a deadline to sort his future out.
